Has Dr. Soul (Len P.) says “Farewell”!!

It comes as a great surprise to one and all, that Dr. Soul has finally made the decision to step aside, allowing others to continue the impressive format in music that he has created and loved.

Born to Gordon and Sylvia Puckerin in Belmont, Port of Spain, one hot
day in January, he arrived a remarkable man that the people worldwide will always remember. And even though his time in the Dj’ing spotlight will shine no more, his legend will live on in the minds of both young and old.

As many people know, Dr. Soul is no new-comer to the Music Industry.
Having his roots from the Island of Trinidad and Tobago, where music
continues to play a major role in the birthplace of the Steel Pan, it is no wonder that this man is musically inclined.

Dr. Soul or Len P. as referred to by his many friends leaves behind an
extensive list of accomplishments of which he can be very proud.

Beginning his career at the early age of 15 years while impressing
people with his talent of DJ selections, music remained his true love throughout his entire career.

Known to all as Mr. Ebony in the 70’s,
and along with having lived and experienced Chicago’s black music, he
decided to revive the Ottawa/Hull region with his style of music.

Mr. Ebony teamed with the Canadian Floor Masters, for the creation of
Street dance (Break-dancing) way back in the 80’s which began in
Confederation Park in Ottawa.

Fortunately for us, and the black local communities we have enjoyed
dancing, grooving, and partying to Gospel, R & B Dance, Fusion, Funk,
Reggae, and Calypso all this, thanks to Dr. Soul and his innovative ideas.
Performing at several venues on both sides of the river from the early days at the Bank Café to the later years and opening of Club 747, at (Agostino’s),

Dr. Soul relentlessly continues the yearly celebration of the 747 Dance Club as a Reunion Dance Party. Along with this gentleman’s entrepreneurial spirit, the year of 2007 showcased
Dr. Soul as the recipient of the Rogers DJ Stylus Hall of Fame Award
for Ottawa.

Throughout the years, Dr. Soul has received many prestigious awards for his lifetime commitments toward many fine causes and events. None of us are capable of forgetting the 25
dedicated years spent as a Host on both CKCU 93.1 FM, and CHUO 89.1 FM
Radio Stations.

Worthy of honorary mention also in that Dr. Soul received the Canadian
Citizenship and Immigration Award in 2007 for 20 years of volunteer
service. His list goes on and on, and he is probably the most decorated DJ in all of the Ottawa/Gatineau area!

As the curtain comes down to its final close, its time for Dr. Soul to
step aside and let others march forward in continuing what he created
and devoted a lifetime in achieving. He warmly invites all those from the past and present that have crossed his path over the years, to come celebrate his undying love of Gospel, R & B Dance, Fusion, Funk, Reggae, and Calypso, with him at his “FAREWELL DANCE TO THE MUSIC” on
October 10, 2010.
